I've mentioned before how it can sometimes be difficult to find good vegan options while visiting my home state of Indiana. It's not impossible, it's just that the whole "trend" [or as I prefer to call it "the movement"] hasn't quite caught on in the Hoosier mainstream yet. That's why I was both surprised & excited to stumble upon a little pizza joint in Indy with loads of delicious vegan options: WB Pizza.
Three words: Vegan. Deep. Dish.
It's ironic that I had to travel so far south of Chicago to find a Chicago style deep dish that fits my dietary standards, but there you have it. The crust is vegan, the sauce is vegan, it's loaded with veggies [spinach, artichoke hearts, olives, onion, broccoli, tomatoes, & mushrooms], AND they have vegan garlic butter dipping sauce! [The health coach in me ignored the fact that it's probably loaded with chemicals, much like Papa John's dipping sauce...it was delicious for a rare treat.]
And did I mention they have vegan appetizers as well? We had the olive loaf:
Our waiter was super sweet & shared a little background info on the location: Apparently, the restaurant has been around for over 13 years and has had vegan options on the menu ever since they opened!
How were they so ahead of the trend? The owner's girlfriend's a vegan so he makes sure to provide her with delicious eats...sounds familiar. ?
